A bit about how I got started...

I don't recall a time in my life where I wasn't making something.  I am what others call a crafty lady.  But when I started working with the natural butters and oils, I found a love like never before.  To see these products raw and pure and to make something that combines all of them is like magic and to this day, I am no less impressed then when I was the very first time!

I love what I do, I love what it does for others and it will be something I do for the rest of my life :)

About this Site!

First and foremost, I'm horrible in English, but hey, I make GREAT body butter!  So, keep in mind this is chalk full of errors, but I am human and not a english major, cringe if you may, mock me if you will.  But realize this is a fun website for me to tinker with.

I created this website for 2 reasons, one, to direct traffic over to our main website at www.CanyonSunSkincare.com  And secondly to have the oppurtunity to put tips and tricks, fun facts, specials, scents that are new or limited, and NEW PRODUCTS that are in the line up at Canyon Sun but have not made it to the main website because they are what we consider "Trial".  Trial products are fun for me, and I enjoy having others test them out.  There will be times that I offer FREE samples and if your here at the right time, you can help me out by trying these out and giving me honest feedback.

Please sign my guestbook, and if you want to be on the email list, it's somewhere in this website <where did that go??>

Enjoy and thanks for taking time to look around, I hope you will come back and please visit the main site! www.CanyonSunSkincare.com

Behind the Name of Canyon Sun!

sun.pmo.jpg

Almost right away people will ask me...."where did you get that name from".  It's not exactly a short story, but one to me that is deep in my heart.  And maybe I get asked more then usual because Canyon Sun sounds like a business in Arizona and/or out west.

I am an adoptee, although I dont' really consider myself one and truly do not like that label, but it is a fact.  My birth name is Canden Sue Black.  I was searching for my past when I learned I was given a name at birth.  (I thought this was a bit strange for someone to name me just to give me up for adoption, however I have since learned this is not uncommon at all)  My birth mother (another label I don't like) Cindi was 15 when I was born, she named me Canden Sue.

The agency assisting (if that's what you call it) me with my search told me I was given a name, that I could guess what it was and they could say "YES or NO".  This was not easy by any means.  Because I had to first guess the "first letter AND the last letter", but yes and no's.  Then I had to guess how many letters.  Well, to shorten the story (because this took a few days mind you) I was told this was my starting poing...~~~> C _ _ _ _ n  S _ n (notice the *n*??)  I got every baby book, every friend, everything I could to guess this name.  NOTHING came out right. I would call with my guess's and nothing was ever right.  It was frustrating!  After endless guessing and NO right answers I settled on over a weekend (since the agency and probate office was closed) that I was named Canyon Sun by a 15 year old from California. It only made sense.  We had guessed EVERY first and middle name with those letters.  And Canyon And Sun fit together and just made since!

Well, Monday came and I called Kay from Probate with my *final answer* and she exlaimed...."why do you think it is a "n" in your middle name?" I said, "that is what I guessed and told it was right", she said that I was told wrong from the agency, and blurted out it was an "E"!!!!! So, I finally guessed the middle was "SUE".  A day later and with a LOT OF HELP from Kay at probate court I found out I was named CANDEN SUE.

However, when thinking of name for my business I visioned a sun, and the name followed.  I water colored the sun by hand and from there my logo was created and a great and LONG story at that!
